How This Calculator Works

  • Percentage is calculated as a simple average of the marks you enter across all subjects (equal weights).
  • Grade bands follow the standard ICSE/ISC ranges widely used by schools; always confirm the exact scheme with your institution or board circular.
  • For subjects with a theory/practical split, consult your school's handbook for the exact weighting — overall grade bands shown here are based on the total combined marks.

Understanding ICSE and ISC

The ICSE (Indian Certificate of Secondary Education) is the Class X board examination conducted by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). The ISC (Indian School Certificate) is the corresponding Class XII examination. Both are considered rigorous, internationally recognized qualifications, and are accepted by universities in India, the UK, the US, Canada, and Australia.

Unlike some other Indian boards, ICSE and ISC do not announce a single cumulative percentage as an official result for Class X. Instead, performance is reported subject-by-subject. However, many colleges and competitive programs require students to compute and submit their own average percentage — which is exactly what this calculator helps you do.

Tips to Improve Your ICSE/ISC Percentage

  • Focus on high-weightage subjects. Subjects with more marks or wider content (like English, Math, Science) have the most impact on your average.
  • Prioritize practical scores. In ISC science subjects, practical marks can account for 20–30% of the total. Consistently doing well in practicals boosts your percentage significantly.
  • Attempt internal choice questions strategically. ISC papers routinely include "either/or" choices — read both options and pick the one you are more confident about.
  • Use CISCE specimen papers. Practicing with official specimen papers from previous years helps you understand the marking scheme and question patterns.
