GPA Improvement Planner
Use this method to determine how many A’s (or target grades) you need across remaining credits to hit a goal GPA.
Formula
Let:
- C = total completed credits
- Q = total quality points so far (C × current GPA)
- R = remaining credits
- t = target GPA
- g = grade points you plan to earn per credit (e.g., A = 4.0)
Solve: (Q + g × R) ÷ (C + R) ≥ t → R ≥ (tC − Q) ÷ (g − t).
Example
Current GPA 3.2 after 60 credits (Q = 192). Target 3.5, grade plan A (g = 4.0). Required R ≥ (3.5×60 − 192) ÷ (4.0 − 3.5) = (210 − 192)/0.5 = 36 credits of A‑level work.
Plan Smarter
- Use a mix of A/A‑ targets in strengths; manage load each term
- Protect core major GPA; consider retakes strategically
