The Science of Dog Aging
For a long time, people believed that one dog year equated to seven human years. However, modern veterinary science tells us that dogs age much more rapidly in their early years and then slow down as they mature.
Furthermore, pure physics plays a role. Size matters. Smaller dogs tend to live significantly longer than larger dogs. A Great Dane might be considered "elderly" at age 7, while a Chihuahua at age 7 is still in their prime.
